Moving back home to support my beloved 90-year-old father and be closer to my daughter, who is now studying in Amsterdam, marks the beginning of a profound new phase of my life. Being close to Amsterdam allows me to regularly explore the city's dynamic cultural scene - biking through the creative neighborhoods, visiting galleries, or simply enjoying the vibrant daily life. Amsterdam's surroundings, known for their creative nurturing through design studios, tech startups, and art centers, provide fertile ground for new inspiration.

This return home has also awakened a rhythm of travel within me - long walks in the Sauerland countryside, visits to the numerous lakes, extended strolls through Amsterdam's historic canals, explorations of nearby cities, and spontaneous road trips that can repeatedly disrupt everyday life. Travel is known to increase creative flexibility, reduce stress, and open the mind to new perspectives, thus reinvigorating the creative process itself. These twin pillars of domestic comfort and the enthusiasm for new discoveries form the foundation for a new creative phase in my life, one based on the balance between family obligations and artistic exploration. It is a time of growth in which life's obligations enrich rather than hinder the development of creative renewal.

From 23 to 24 March 2024, the Emmendingen Artists' Market will take place for the 56th time in its usual tradition. New and well-known artists from Germany and neighbouring countries such as Switzerland and France will once again come together and transform the streets, alleyways and corners of Emmendingen town centre into a colourful village of the arts. Paintings, sculptures, textile designs, fabric and clay works and much more can be admired and, of course, purchased by art lovers.

From 1 March to 1 May 2024 there will be an exhibition in the beautiful Glashaus in Lehen. This exhibition explores the dynamic interactions between artworks that reflect the natural confluence, as the individual works are rooted in different styles and cultural backgrounds, revealing shared emotions and narratives. While each artwork stands alone, together they enter into a silent dialogue, forming invisible connections that transcend individual expression. This interplay invites the viewer to experience a cohesive narrative. The different media, including painting, photography, installation, sculpture and textiles, emphasise the different perspectives of life and testify to the power of art to promote understanding and unity through shared themes and experiences.

Mindful art making begins with a short guided mindfulness exercise that helps participants to ground themselves and open their creative channels. Afterwards, the different materials are explored and participants experiment with watercolours, oil or acrylic paints, pencils and found materials, playfully gaining self-confidence. Using creative techniques and processes such as combination, analogy and “creating something from nothing” - the hallmark of the ZIMON approach - participants create spontaneous works of art that will surprise even themselves. This creates connection and community, as the Glass House thrives on the shared energy of participants sharing, encouraging each other and thinking out loud about their creative processes, as all participants get into the action, creating a reflective exchange where everyone gets to present their work to the group and talk about how the act of creating brings joy, presence, mindfulness and unexpected discoveries.

This workshop is more than a lesson in art technique - it is a celebration of the creative self-expression, courage and mindful slowing down that art invites. Led by ZIMON, ‘Creativity Makes You Happy’ will be a true testament to how art can heal, unite and inspire wonder - reminding each participant that imagination is not just a skill, but a gift that brings light and fulfilment to everyday life.

The traditional Emmendingen Artists' Market will take place for the 52nd time this year from 9 to 10 April 2022.
The now tried and tested concept of offering the market in the entire Emmendingen city centre will also be implemented this spring. The art area stretches from Emmendinger Tor to the railway station and from Theodor-Ludwig-Straße to the New Town Hall and the upper Markgrafenstraße. Numerous artists from near and far are expected again and we have booked great musical support. You can look forward to a colourful supporting programme with very special people from the border triangle who will be presenting their art and are ready to meet you. All good things come in threes and we very much hope that we will finally be able to enjoy art and culture in Emmendingen again after two cancelled markets.
The special thing about the Whitsun Artists' Market is that this year it will take place over three days instead of just two and we are looking forward to welcoming lots of visitors - despite the circumstances. It will be a good opportunity to see outstanding art in the town and to engage with positive things during this time.

An enchanted night on September 24, 2021, in the Batzenberg Forest, under whose canopy the Lights in the Forest party transformed the natural landscape into a luminous wonderland. Participants immersed themselves in a surreal environment where the interplay of light and nature became an unforgettable experience.

The forest paths are decorated with glowing sculptures and installations and a black light decoration illuminates the surroundings, transforming the forest into a living carpet of colours and shapes. The ambient sounds of the forest blend seamlessly with the curated music, enhancing the guests' multi-sensory journey. This event serves as a skilful example of the fusion of art, nature and community, providing a unique space for expression and connection. ‘Lights in the Forest’ not only celebrates creativity, but also emphasises the enchanting beauty of the Batzenberg's natural surroundings.

"Life is Beautiful" is the title of ZIMON's solo exhibition of photographs, which runs from April 6 to September 25, 2020. It can be seen at Olaf Sauer and his team's alternative therapy practice in Freiburg, which has been known for years for its collaborations with regional artists and interesting, changing exhibitions. Visitors can visually immerse themselves in the moment by contemplating the exhibited images and experience a deeper appreciation of the present moment. The exhibition includes numerous works from her current creative phase, highlighting the importance of protecting nature and the environment, as their beauty reveals itself daily in our lives once we open our eyes to it. Creativity makes you happy – a ZIMON workshop for all creatives in and around Freiburg, or those who aspire to be. Under this motto, ZIMON will be hosting an art circle every Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. starting January 16, 2020, at Auf Kurs, Basler Straße 42, 79100 Freiburg.

Led by Freiburg-based artist ZIMON, a lively gathering is planned where participants of all experience levels will discover the joy of creative activity and boldly venture into experimentation. The workshop will take place in a cozy and inviting atmosphere and is intended to celebrate the power of imagination through collaborative painting, drawing, mixed media, and mindful art-making.

On Saturday, December 14, 2019, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., an atmospheric Advent bazaar will take place at Auf Kurs, Basler Straße 42, 79100 Freiburg. The bazaar provides a platform for regional artists to sell their works. Visitors can purchase artistic, unusual, and handmade items at the stalls. Various materials, such as textiles, ceramics, wood, paper, and metal, will be used. Around 15 exhibitors will be offering their works for sale. So, if you're looking for something special for Christmas, stop by; everyone should find something they like among the numerous unique pieces on offer.

URSCHALL - a unique techno event at Drifters in Freiburg with DJ Hell - a fusion of decoration, dance, light, music, and art.

The artist ZIMON invited him to immerse himself in Freiburg's vibrant cultural scene and play at her event, which boasts high artistic standards in terms of decoration. ZIMON offers a sewing course for beginners, teaching interested participants versatile skills that open up new avenues of creative expression. By mastering the basics of sewing, artists can seamlessly integrate textile techniques into their work, expanding their artistic repertoire and expanding their creative possibilities. Through creative activity and experimentation on the sewing machine, new channels can be opened. So give it a try and sew it!

On June 22, 2012, families and children will meet at the enchanting Tiengener Hütte, nestled in the quiet forest of the Freiburg district of Tiengen, to celebrate the longest day of the year and experience the color green, which is known to have calming and hopeful effects. The rustic hut, surrounded by lush greenery, provides the perfect backdrop for an evening filled with joy, laughter, and a sense of community. At sunset, the celebration begins with a communal feast. The children can play nearby, and the adults can enjoy lively conversations—the effect of the color green is unbeatable!

Glow – Be part of the art!
